This position will provide supervision, leadership and oversight of staff serving in instructional roles. Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Assistant Director, Educational Services will be responsible for coordination and supervision of programming that supports opportunity youth, ages 18-24, including contextualized academic programming at the pre-HSE level, comprehensive High School Equivalency and work-based learning and sector focused advanced trainings. 

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the academic service and instructional staff and lead all coordination and communication with the Department of Education. 

  • Work in collaboration with department managers; engaging in biweekly meetings.  

  • Manage and coordinate program schedules. 

  • Manage day to day instructional operations, classroom management, and conduct classroom observations. 

  • Manage and coordinate curricula design including the development of immersive, differentiated, project based and responsive workshops and lesson plans. 

  • Lead professional development surrounding best practices in facilitation and classroom management for instructional staff. 

  • Create and manage external academic and instructional resource partnerships to support staff and participant success. 

  • Achieve all program milestones, benchmarks, and credentials at required intervals. 

  • Monitor the flow of young adults throughout program components. 

  • Cultivate and manage relationships within OBT’s interdisciplinary team and external stakeholders. 

  • Provide professional development to staff to share best practices and improve programming.  

  • Maintain all quality assurance requirements, including data integrity, reporting and client data. 

  • Assess and adjust program design to meet the needs of participants. 

  • Participate in internal trainings on Motivational Interviewing (MI) and employ MI strategies as a primary modality of practice.  

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of education systems and instructional principles and best practices, particularly when working with young adults re-entering education and workforce. 
  • Oversee administrative components of the program, including attendance data entry, Metrocard distribution and documentation, and other associated tasks.
  • Demonstrated experience in responsive curriculum design and implementation. 

  • Demonstrated success in supervising, leading, and developing instructional staff. 

  • Development of programmatic systems and policies. 

  • Ability to work with internal and external partners. 

  • Ability to manage, delegate, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting.

  • Ability to support the team to achieve program quality and program outcomes. 

Education and Experience/Training

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Masters preferred.  
  • At least three years relevant work experience.
  • Experience working within or in partnership with NYC DOE a plus.
Salary Range $70-75,000
